Q: I registered but cannot log in. Why?

You can log into the course from the login page. Use your email address and password. If you cannot remember your password, click on the link titled Forgot your password? to retrieve it via email.

Please Note: Certificates from the previous NCI course are no longer available. This is a new course with new content, opened on March 1, 2008.

Q: How long is this course?

This course contains a total of 7 modules, 4 of which are followed by quizzes. The entire course will take approximately 3 hours to complete.

Q: How do I go through the course?

On the Main Menu page a list of each module of the program is displayed. To begin a module, click on the title in the Main Menu list.

To complete a module, read through all pages, clicking onto the "next" link located at the top of the page to continue through each, and continue on through to the end. Clicking through the last page will return you back to the Main Menu and record you having completed that module. Your progress is only recorded when you complete a module and see a check mark next to that module on the Main Menu page.

Q: How do I access a quiz?

You must go through the related module in order to access a quiz. Begin a module and click through each of the pages by clicking onto the "next" link located at the top of the page. Clicking through the last page will take you to the quiz. If you score less than the required number of correct answers for a quiz, you must reread the module. After you reread the module, you may retake the quiz. This may be repeated until a satisfactory score has been attained.

Q: How do I get my certificate?

Click on “Get Certificate” from the main menu.

For this to be active, you must first complete all sections and all quizzes. A check mark will appear next to a section name when you’ve read it. There are also four quizzes that must be completed. A green check mark () will appear to the right of your quiz score when you have answered correctly the required number of questions.

Also, please ensure all pop-up blockers are turned off, as the certificate will open in a new window for your convenience.

Q: I have taken this quiz several times, and I cannot pass. What do I do?

Some quiz questions have multiple answers possible. A radio button () signifies only one possible answer. A check box () signifies many possible answers, and that there is more than one correct answer

For example, the Respect for Persons quiz, 2 questions have more than one correct answer. Please try reviewing the section and taking the quiz again.

Q: How do I change my quiz answers?

You can only change your quiz answers if you have not passed the quiz. Once you have passed the quiz, your answers are locked in and can no longer be changed.

Q: I retook the quiz, but the score stayed the same. Why?

Quizzes are automatically updated upon submission. If your quiz score is the same as it was before you retook it, then it’s simply a coincidence.

Q: How long is the certificate valid?

Many people ask how long this certificate is valid. This is not a question that we can answer. There is no end date for validity. All we do is certify that you have successfully completed the course. The length of time that the certificate is valid will depend on your institution's rules. If you have questions about this, refer the question to your organization.

Q: My institution wants me to renew my certificate. How do I do this?

If your institution requires that you demonstrate you took this course again, you may retake the course, quizzes, and be issued an updated certificate. After logging into the course, select the Edit User Info / Retake Course from the right-hand column. This will give you the option to reset all your tracking data and your certificate by selecting Retake Course. You may do this at any time. Be forewarned that selecting this option will reset all your tracking data, and your certificate.
